History of the West Kentucky Boat & Outdoor Show
The West Kentucky Boat Show was started in 1985 by woman’s pro-angler Jeanette Story from Murray, Kentucky. She put the show together to present an opportunity for area fishing enthusiasts to come together in one place to see what new and exciting products, mainly boats, were in the marketplace.
The first show was held at the West Kentucky Exposition Center in Murray and it was the first of its kind in the region. Through-out the years the show was expanded; and in the early 1990’s the name was changed to West Kentucky Boat & Outdoor Show to better describe what the show had become: An event for all outdoor enthusiasts.
The show has been held in various sites throughout West Kentucky including a couple of different locations in Paducah. When the Regional Special Events Center (now the CFSB Center) in Murray was completed the show finally found the perfect location!
After producing the event for 17 years, Story decided it was time to retire and sold the show rights to Nancy Mieure in 2001. Mieure had just started her own advertising, marketing and special event planning company after working for 18 years in sales and management for various media outlets in the region. Mieure had also been involved in the planning several special events in the region.
